The Master's Degree in Choreographic Creation and Professional Practices provides in-depth knowledge and advanced skills in choreographic creation, with specializations in choreography, interpretation and artistic mediation in dance – expanding and enhancing training in the field of Performing Arts.
It promotes research through practice, strengthening its relationship with the conceptual dimension, and stimulating the production of knowledge.
The programme develops the ability to intervene and carry out autonomous research within the scope of choreography, interpretation and artistic mediation in dance, for different contexts, audiences and communities, consolidating the mastery of technical, artistic, creative, communicative and reflective skills.
The organization of the study plan focuses on the development of specific skills arising from different professional practices, which structure different domains of choreographic creation and which are considered, in contemporary times, as fundamental pillars for artistic and cultural development.
Areas of specialization
Choreography, Interpretation and Artistic Mediation in Dance.
Course Organization
1st year – 2 semesters
– 6 Regular Programmes which promote continuous acquisition of knowledge in the theoretical domain, organized into one weekly workday for periods of 4 weeks.
– 6 Intensive Programmes which encourage the development of artistic and creative skills, promoting immersive research that characterizes contemporary creative methods and processes in the format of Artistic Residencies, organized in periods of 2 weeks of intensive work.
To carry out the Artistic Residencies, ESD counts on the collaboration of the following entities:
- Teatro do Bairro Alto (EGEAC)
- Victor Córdon Studios (OPART)
2nd year – Project/Internship/Dissertation
In the 2nd year, each student will opt for one of the course's specializations, developing artistic research and investigation work in one of the following areas:
- Practical project in Choreography, which will be subject to a Final Report
- Practical project in Artistic Mediation in Dance , which will be subject to a Final Report • Internship in Interpretation, which will be subject to a Final Report
- Dissertation in any of the three areas of specialization
