Ofélia Maria Rodrigues Vargas Cardoso
Post-Degree Specialization Course in the Specialty of Artistic Performance-Dance, at the Faculty of Human Motricity, at UTL.
Degree in Dance (Performance Branch) from the IPL School of Dance.
She attended the National Conservatory Dance School for three years.
She studied theatre with João Mota, João Brites and Antonino Solmer.
In New York, she attended courses at the "Merce Cunningham Studio" and Jack Winner's "School for Creative Movement". She took composition workshops with Ramon Oller, Wim Vandekeybus, Catherine Diverés, Nigel Charnock, Paulo Ribeiro, Laurie Booth, Donna Uchizono, Javier de Frutos, Jean-Marc Colet, Rui Horta.
Between 1990 and 1993, she was part of Companhia RE.AL, owned by João Fiadeiro, where she collaborated as an interpreter and rehearsal assistant. She interpreted works by choreographers such as Águeda Sena, Joana Providência, and Vasco Wellenkamp.
She participated, as a special extra, in the opera "Horácios e Coriácios", by Domenico Cimarosa, directed by João Perry.
In the context of rehearsal assitance, she has worked with choreographers Aimé de Ligniere, Amélia Bentes, Benvindo Fonseca, Henri Ouguike, Jean Paul Bucchieri.
As part of the ERASMUS professor mobility program, she has taught and choreographed for students at the Fontys Dance Academy [Fontys Hogescholen], in Tilburg, Netherlands, the Higher Institute of Dance at the Hogeschool Antwerpen, in Lier, Belgium, and the Department of Dance, from Teatterikorkeakoulu, in Helsinki, Finland.
She choreographed, among others, the works Dream Stream (1998/2001), Decisions (2000/2001), Rotinas (2010), E Se… (2012), Tudo está ligado (2013), Moving on (2014) and Emovere (2016 ) for students at ESD, Fontys Dance Academy, Netherlands and Hogeschool Antwerpen, Belgium.
