Cecília de Lima H. G. Teixeira
Currently, Cecília Teixeira is a Guest Professor at the Escola Superior de Dança (IPL) and at the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (UL). At the same time, Cecília develops research at the Institute of Ethnomusicology - Music and Dance (INET-md), in the field of the relationship between dance practice and phenomenology, cognitive sciences and somatic practices, as well as the field of education through art and dance in technological expansion. Her work has been published in international magazines and at various scientific meetings and he has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices since 2014.
She began her professional career as a choreographer and dancer in 1999, having, since then, worked with several European creators. From 2001 to 2008 she was co-founder of the company Canvas Performing Art (Netherlands), where she co-created several interdisciplinary performances, from which, among others, she highlights: “Can you fix me?”, “Skinless”, No Strings Attached” and “Zero Distance”.
In parallel, she develops her activity as a guest professor at several Universities, highlighting: Amsterdam Faculty of Arts -Modern Dance Course, Arnhem ArtEZ Faculty of Arts – Dance Course and Universidade Aberta - Doctorate in Digital-Media Art (Lisbon).
In her education, she highlights the confrontation between classical instruction, begun at the Escola da Companhia Nacional de Bailado, and avant-garde artistic training developed at the European Dance Development Center (EDDC), in the Netherlands. Her training was especially marked by some of the founders of Release Technique and Judson Dance Theatre, by artists from the Trisha Brown Dance Company and the Siobban Davies Company, as well as by the practice of various Somatic Techniques. In 2006, she received her Gyrokinesis Training System teacher certificate.
In 2008, she received a Master's degree in choreography from the Faculty of Arts ArtEZ (Netherlands), with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where she developed research into the practice entitled “Sensory Art- moving through the vertigo of affection”.
In 2017, she received her PhD degree from the University of Lisbon - Faculty of Human Motricity, in the specialty of Dance, with a scholarship from FCT.
