The Academic Excellence Merit Award aim to distinguish higher education students with exceptional academic performance in the course they are attending, as provided for in the Regulations for Attributing Merit Scholarships to Students of Higher Education Institutions.

The process of selecting students eligible to receive merit scholarships is developed in each of the Polytechnic University of Lisbon schools/institutes, through the application of criteria defined in the Regulations for Attributing Merit Scholarships to IPL Students.
